This dynamic visualization presents a nice example of machine learning using a classification process (decision tree) to determine whether a house is located in San Francisco or New York. This example leads you though the process of visualizing the data, developing the model, and then testing the model. I think the visual affects do an excellent job of demonstrating the development of the model’s decision and leaf nodes as data are being processed.
An Introduction to Statistical Learning with Applications in R provides an excellent combination of theory and practice. If you are interested in gaining a solid foundation in statistics and learning how to implement R within the context of statistical/machine learning, then add this book to your library. Best of all, the authors have made this publication (the 4th edition) free as a downloadable PDF.
